SOOOOO it's a law on the books for you, they did that quick.

Looks like it’s been on the books since 2005 with a few amendments, one being after COVID.

“A Kentucky man traveled to a Canadian resort for some fun during the pandemic.

Instead, he got a visit from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for violating Canada's Quarantine Act – and now faces big fines and possible jail time.

John Pennington, 40, of Walton, Kentucky, was fined $1,200 on June 25 after staff at a Banff hotel called the police saying they believed the U.S. citizenwas violating COVID-19 quarantine laws.

He could also face a fine of up to $750,000 or six months in jail.

Pennington could not be immediately reached for comment.

Americans are not allowed into Canada. But many have used a loophole to travel through Canada on the way to and from Alaska.

Fewer than 10,000 Canadians have died from COVID-19, according to Johns Hopkins University data. More than 180,000 people in the U.S. have died.”

You really don't think this would stand up in even a Canadian court do you? I know in the states it wouldn't  Cut the 180,000 in half or better who have actually died of this very nasty virus.

14 day self quarantine is the law and has been for quite some time.

While our federal response to covid 19 has not been perfect, we have fared much better then our neighbours to the South

There is almost no appetite here for re-opening the borders in 2020.

And I totally agree with the quarantine. I hope they throw the book at him Ronnie  and anyone else who defies the order. There are a few out of province university students our province is dealing with now.

I have travel coverage through previous employment with Green Shield. I contacted them this morning & under Level 3 Advisory I would not be covered for anything Covid related. When I explained I would have to purchase the mandatory Covid Insurance for Aruba they indicated I would still be fully covered for any other medical matters.
He gave me an example of a trip & fall. So the bottom line is my travel insurance with Green Shield would cover anything not related to Covid.
Hope this helps.

I believe and ArubaAmy noted in a resent thread there are insurance companies that are now offering travel insurance that covers Covid. Of course you will still have to get the Aruban issued coverage.

I am going to start to look into it for my trip in late November.

I would be very careful with Green Shield Canada

I’m travelling abroad… Is there anything I need to know?
Canadian Consular Affairs publishes a list of regions where normal travel coverage and services cannot be guaranteed. Many travel health insurance carriers use this list to determine where they can guarantee coverage. If you have coverage through GSC Travel Assistance, it is important to review the list.

If any Canadian has an Travel insurance that states in writing that we are covered for Pandemic or Level 3 travel advisory please post so I can buy ! Thank You .
