On March 15, 2020 the Government of Aruba has made the difficult, but necessary decision to mandate a suspension of all inbound travel to Aruba by non-residents of Aruba. This will be in effect beginning midnight Monday, March 16 until further notice. These restrictions are subject to change as we may consider additional precautionary measures as needed. Specifically: Anyone who is not a resident of Aruba, will not be permitted to enter Aruba. Visitors currently in Aruba will be able to leave Aruba. Aruba residents currently traveling abroad will be permitted to return home to Aruba. A negative travel advisory will be in place for Aruba residents advising against outbound travel during this period.

UPDATE EFFECTIVE MARCH 20,2020

The Government of Aruba has introduced a curfew as of Saturday (March 21st) between 9pm and 6am. Only exceptions are pharmacies and vital jobs. As of Saturday, no one can enter Aruba including residents.

All restaurants and supermarkets are open until 8:00pm. Some restaurants have delivery and take-out services. Supermarkets allowing people to enter only by batch.

Queen Beatrix International Airport is open but there are no incoming passenger flights.

Law officially in effect in Aruba as of now! It is (by law) prohibited to be behind the wheel of a car in traffic having a phone in your hand. If spotted by police you will receive a 500 florin ($285 +/-) fine. The maximum sentence for this infraction (should it be necessary to go beyond the basic fine) is detention for a maximum of three months or a fine of 10k florin (about $5850).

Yoo have been warned!

We have this law for years in the Netherlands. About 60% of traffic accidents are caused because people are busy on their phone while driving. I think it is a good thing the fine is high.

If your rental car does not have bluetooth, please bring your own. Not all rental cars have them. Check with the company you rent from.
Another alternative is a portable mount. I have one that fits into the CD slot. It's good for using maps as well as the speaker on your phone.
Be prepared Scouts.
