I won’t be doing individual dinner reports as it was pretty much the same as last year. To summarize our restaurant experience this past visit:

Chalet Suisse - 2 times. They’re usually closed when we’re in Aruba in September so we squeezed them in twice both times were very good.

Screaming Eagle - 2 times. One of our favorites and it never disappoints. Chef Erwin as gracious as alway.

Bingo’s - 3 times - Always something new going on and really like the options of smaller portions on appetizers and entrees. Service as always really nice.

Twist of Flavors - 4 times - Yup we like it here a lot. Food and service are just terrific. Early bird specials, wine pairing events and solid menu.
py we went there.

Que Pasa - 2 times (surprisingly) one of our favorites found that service is slipping. Food as good as always with lots to choose from.

We rarely find ourselves along Palm Beach for dinner and are excited about what will surely become the rebirth of Oranjestads Wilhelminastraat. For visitors staying in the downtown area there are plenty of worthwhile choices. Beginning with Yemanja and Fred (2 of our favorites that we missed this year) there are a few new openings - Taste My Aruba and Anno 1877 - with more to come.

Sugargarden or Bistro de Suikertuin - 3 times - we love it here and recommend it highly! Solid continental menu with local favorites as well. Love the walls made of coral blocks in the dining area and of course the charming al fresco dining area as well. We did a craft beer pairing here one Friday evening that was packed with locals for great tasting beer and food. BTW, the owner shared that 2 additional restaurants are coming soon, very nearby to Suikertuin.

Maroc tapas - 2 times and Wilhelminas - the southern point of Wilhelminastrat - we love both these restaurants. The former one is casual and where locals meet. Wilhelminas for a super menu of finely prepared items served in a garden alfresco setting. Chef Dennis also has his daily 5 course menu at Carte Blanche for 16 guests and has recently added La Trattoria to his growing empire.

We returned to the following ones after a few years absence:

Matthew’s Beachside for a lovely dinner with friends on their first night in Aruba. Loved it! Service was really nice! Fish for everyone!

Window on Aruba - expensive but deliciously prepared food. Service was very good and the dining room is beautiful. Noticed it was considerably noisy this time around - almost too many kids and casual diners. May have been an off night.

Finally returned to MJs with local friends who suggested it. We were there at the beginning and saw it succeed and conquer the restaurant scene. Returning was like Dolly Levi returning to the Harmonium Gardens. We were greeted warmly by staff whom we hadn’t seen in years and the food, while not what it once was (which was quite special) was good. Happy to give it another try.

New for us this year were:

Asi es mi Peru which we enjoyed very much. Living in midtown NYC we enjoy variety and this was a welcome addition. Every dish very well prepared and good portions.

Craft for breakfast on Palm Beach - Very cool, delicious coffee and juices and nice choices for breakfast.

I talked our group of friends from the Boston area in trying out the new place Bohemian and I was the only one who liked what was ordered. I’d still recommend going for a drink at the bar as the garden is quite nicely done.

The best of the new (to us) places we tried was at Costa Linda. The Waters Edge served THE Best red snapper we’ve tasted on Aruba. Compliments to Chef Harold and owner Roy.
