DH wanted to go here for many years. We never did travel that way, though. Last week when we were having dinner with our Aruban friends at Quinta del Carmen we talked about it. Turns out the only one that was born and raised on the island never went there as well. So we made the appointment to go there tonight.

The surroundings and decor of the restaurant is really nice. It is on a large deck over the water, a bit like Amuse (former Marandi). Decor is charming and a bit outdated. We had a great table at the edge of the deck. Sunset was good, not great.

DH started with the signature cocktail that had 4 or 5 different licor in it. He only had one and didn’t drink anything else. I had two pinot grigio. We shared an appetizer: squid in garlic sauce. It was very good and enough for both of us. Friends had the chicken caesar salad and the escargot. They said both were good. The salad was huge.

As entrees we all had fish: DH and me had the grilled baracuda with shrimp. It was only two small shrimp, but a good size of baracuda, it came with different veggies and french fries (you can also choose rice, funchi or pan bati). Food was really good. Friends liked their main course as well. DH had the tiramisu for dessert, which he said was surprisingly good. Total bill for the two of us was 180 florin. This does include 10% service charge.

Place is nice and was packed with locals. Not a real tourist restaurant. Service was nice, but a bit slow. Not a place for a hasty dinner. We will return, but it is not on top of our list. Not because of the food, but because it is kind of out of the way. And we find the prices a bit steep.
