On March 15, 2020 the Government of Aruba has made the difficult, but necessary decision to mandate a suspension of all inbound travel to Aruba by non-residents of Aruba. This will be in effect beginning midnight Monday, March 16 until further notice. These restrictions are subject to change as we may consider additional precautionary measures as needed. Specifically: Anyone who is not a resident of Aruba, will not be permitted to enter Aruba. Visitors currently in Aruba will be able to leave Aruba. Aruba residents currently traveling abroad will be permitted to return home to Aruba. A negative travel advisory will be in place for Aruba residents advising against outbound travel during this period.

UPDATE EFFECTIVE MARCH 20,2020

The Government of Aruba has introduced a curfew as of Saturday (March 21st) between 9pm and 6am. Only exceptions are pharmacies and vital jobs. As of Saturday, no one can enter Aruba including residents.

All restaurants and supermarkets are open until 8:00pm. Some restaurants have delivery and take-out services. Supermarkets allowing people to enter only by batch.

Queen Beatrix International Airport is open but there are no incoming passenger flights.

Arashi Beach all three days. The sea has been rough-red flag warnings on Eagle-so pretty much just body surfed and bounced around in the water. Finally yesterday the surf died down and so the water cleared enough to get some fish sightseeing done. Snorkeled twice yesterday, but not out to the big reef-just stayed inshore. Actually got caught in our first rain shower yesterday, but in typical Aruban fashion it cleared up nicely after for a beautiful end to the day. Big birthday party on the beach beside us-the Arubans really do a beach picnic with style. All three days we beached it until about 4:45 or so, then back to the resort to spend time in the pool and hot tub. Life is tough on vacation......Back to reality(and 40 degree daytime temps) today.
Ah well...there is always next year, the hunt for the cheap airfare starts now.
