Hi Everyone, this is my First Trip Report ever. We have been going to Aruba for 16 years and I have been on this board for most of those, but never did a report. After reading the MIA posts, I felt a bit guilty for not sharing. I feel like I know most of you personally, even though we have never met!
Let me introduce myself, my name is Penny and my husband is Ron. Enjoy our report!

Instead of giving a day by day of what we did on our vacation, the usual R&R, sun, beach, which is why we really go there, I want to share a few things that were “First’s” for us even after all these years.

Let’s start with the 1st, First: March 2003, first time to Aruba. My husband had spent a couple of years after 911 serving around the globe with the PA Air National Guard in Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Operation Northern Watch and a few others, so after all that was over, we wanted a quiet island vacation for two and decided on Aruba. Friends had talked about the island, so it had been on our list to visit. Our third day here we fell prey to a salesman and ended up buying our first timeshare. A note here on purchasing timeshares, please try before you buy, it took us ten years to unload that one, but finally we have the week, unit and place we call home every year at Costa Linda and are very happy.

#2 First: Jeep rental with Top Drive. I highly recommend them, it was a brand new Jeep, there were five of us and it was very comfortable and easy to drive. They picked us up at Costa (the office was at Manchebo) and dropped us off back there. We only got it for one day, it was a split day 2pm Friday-2pm Saturday which worked out so well and was worth it as we were able to show friends almost the entire island. Friday part island tour, then Saturday to Baby Beach and shopping downtown. Cost $189.90

#3 First: First time to Also Vista Chapel – funny how this just worked out. We got the Jeep, headed to the chapel (we thought), got lost, really lost in a saguaro cactus forest, gave up and went to the Gold Mine, headed up the coast and low and behold, there was the chapel upon the hill. We wound our way around to it, I know that there was a guiding hand here and we were there at just the right time. After the chapel, we made our way to the Lighthouse, then onto Palm Beach for some shopping and dinner at Azzurro just in time for sunset. I will try to get some restaurant reviews posted too. We’re foodies.

#4 First: Kukoo Kunukoo Party Bus: Oh my, Oh my. We had a blast. Mind you, we are not – ugh – young? But it was super fun. Party of 6 of us, the bus was full with Mama as our escort. Champagne toast at sunset below the Lighthouse, light dinner at Barney’s, a few bar stops, home around midnight, yeah, it was a real good time. The wheels on the bus go round and round the roundabouts! Would I do it again? Not next year, maybe in a few years…….

#5 First: Visit to Urgent Care in Noord: Yep, result of the bus? Not sure, but I ended up with an ear infection and sore throat. There was a lot of singing and laughing going on that night. Got a steroid injection in the behind and steroids to take. They were very professional there and the pharmacy is across the street. In and out in less than an hour. Cost $213.00 which included the injection. Had to pay with a credit card, but our insurance should reimburse. Better than being sick the rest of the vacation. Note here too that we also have Emergency Assistance Plus for medical travel emergencies that would require an evacuation. This is through the VA for any travel anywhere. Ya just never know when it might be needed.

We love Aruba,
Feel free to ask any questions,
Bon Dia!
