We had the 9:00 Jet Blue flight out of JFK Saturday morning. Just as we were boarding- the snow started. It was coming down fast. The captain came over the speaker and said we woud be delayed a bit as the plane would have to be de-iced. At least 6 trucks were out there doing 2 or 3 planes at a time. They got done with us and the captain started moving, made the turn to the runway and off we went! Sighs of relief through the cabin!
Stayed at ABC this year. Upper 1 bedroom condo (3rd floor). Beautiful terrace facing the beach.
Sunday morning we were out on the beach at 7, remembering how everything was claimed by then in years past. Not so this year. There were plenty of empty huts, even as late as 11:00. So no rush for us the rest of the week. Turns out the front desk told us they were not full this week (week 1). She said the second week was fully booked. Lucky for us!
Sunday and Monday the water was clear and had waves, by Tuesday it had turned into a rough surf. And stayed that way till we left on Saturday. The waves were washing up to the back row of huts. The front 2 rows were not used after Wednesday,as the water had started to pool there. A bit disappointing for me as I prefer calm water, but it was fun to watch the kids with their boogie boards riding the waves.
Weather was beautiful, with the exception of one very rainy afternoon. Which we spent on the terrace with cheese, crackers and coctails . We made the best of it !
Dinners at Sole Mare ( shrimp fra diavolo- spectacular) Ricardo's (rib night) Attempt at Madame Jeanette (unfortunatly too many flies, paid for our drinks and left) Driftwood( great fish) Chalet Suisse (always a winner) and Delimar(good food, good prices, nice service).
Can't wait for next time!
