as expected, kenny came home without any information about his visit except "i had to drop something off at the hospital, pick up prescriptions, go for blood work tomorrow and i have a boot. didn't know what they did or what do to next. not sure why i was surprised.

called the office for info, girl was laughing, apologizing because all she was doing all day was calling people back to recap visits. maybe they should listen when you make an appt and tell them there is a memory issue

it was an infected blister, they took a culture which is what he dropped off at the hospital. its an open wound that has to be soaked 1-2 times a day, apply ointment and re-bandage. have to thoroughly wash the basin to make sure all bacteria is gone before he uses it again. shouldn't shower because bacteria could wash down from his body onto his toe. has to wear the "shoe" until his followup appt on the 14th. antibiotics 3 times a day. guessing the blood work is to see if the infection traveled. Oh and he can't drive even though its his left foot, something about liability.

while i lost my sh*t, he thought it was very funny and said he's doing what he wants including driving. i had several "words" for him which seemed to go nowhere

after work he asked me to explain everything to him. for now it appears he will do what has to be done, probably because he knows all the kids know. they are on board and are scheduling themselves to help.

my head is ready to explode

Hopefully it heals and my sympathy to you Linda. I'm sure this is difficult for you, Kenny and his family. George is a much better patient. He goes alone to most of his visits except for the doctor that's in Hauppauge, mainly because he forgets how to get there. Sounds like Kenny needs someone with him on his doctor visits.

Sorry to read this Linda. Bet the 14th can't come soon enough. Yes, Kenny is lucky to have you. After todays visit the doctor might make an exception and let you come for the office visit.

Hugs, Linda!

We still drive ourselves to our own appointments.
Of course, I'm not going to do it after something like early last year when I had cataract surgery.

We are blessed to have all our medical appointments less than 5 miles away.
I see plenty of doctors. I have an appointment this Thursday and next Tuesday.

Hope Kenny heals fast!

Who knew a blister could be so dangerous and having to deal with it could be so complicated?

Doctor visits can be very confusing for the elderly.....and they won't let you go in the office with him due to Covid and the memory issue is another factor with Kenny...I am sure he appreciates you. You are a blessing to Kenny! I hope he heals up nicely.
Hugs!!
