This post is from Arubamama, the webmaster's wife, otherwise known as Karen.

Something bad happened yesterday, The webmaster, Richard, was rushed to the hospital with symptoms of a minor stroke. The doctors checked him out in the ER and yes he's been having multiple mini-strokes or TIAs over some months now. His blood pressure was 229/97 when he arrived at the ER. He was admitted to the hospital within a couple of hours and they have been doing multiple tests on him. I still don't know anything about Richard because the doctors haven't called me yet. And they have scheduled Richard for anothero MRI tomorrow but to focus more closely on a specific area. What I didn't know all along, but Richard has not been taking his blood pressure medications every day like he's supposed to. I guess he's been doing that because he's trying to conserve his medication but we lost our pcp here in Florida back in June and it's been very very difficult trying to find any pcp at all that will take our insurance, Medicare Humana. It's got to be the worst insurance on this planet.

Anyways, Richard went from a very quiety person yesterday to a very violent person today almost punching out a staff member. And THIS IS NOT RICHARD AT ALL!!! They finally got him quieted down and I guess they changed his room to be right outside the nurse's station so that they can keep an eye on him constantly. They were even thnking of sedating him and securing him to his bed.

Sorry to rain on everyone's parade about the webmaster. But Richard is 83 y.o. anld will turn 84 this coming September. It looks like he's going down hill pretty damn fast.

All I ask of everyone is to please say prayers for my husband, and pray that the doctors will find out what is happening to Richard. I don't mean to be negative, but if something does happen to Richard, then I'm afraid this bulletin board will have to be shut down because I know nothing about it. But let's not think about that now.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers in advance!

Arubamama

Karen, I’m so sorry to read about Richard's health issue(s) right now. I pray that the doctors can figure it all out, and that he will be back on the road to good health very soon.

Sending you a hug tonight, and may tomorrow be a better day for both of you. Please keep us posted.

Prayers and hugs, Karen and Richard.
(We met briefly...probably 20+ years ago. On island, of course).

Oh Karen NO!!!! That is not good news. Sending love and gentle hugs and prayers for your Richard. You are correct, Medicare Humana is the worst, so sorry this is the result.

Doesn't Florida has other options for Medicare recipients?
