For as much as I have traveled to Aruba and other countries, I have never had to change planes in one country when the destination is another.

We are looking to go to Spain and will go through England, Ireland or Portugal.

Do you go through customs when you are in that intermediate airport? Do I need to plan for extra time or just what I would normally need?

If you are in transit in the same airport, you don’t go through customs because you don’t enter the country. The airline will take care of your checked luggage, so you don’t need to worry about that either. If you book your tickets all together, there is nothing to worry about!

How exciting! How did you decide on Spain? And which part? Portugal has been popping up a lot in travel circles lately too.

There are some cheap Getaways on Interval International. We are looking at flying in to Malaga.
