Such a wonderful thread centering on a wonderful man. Comforting to know he will live with Barb with the hope of returning home. Continued hugs and prayers for our dear Monkey Mr X! :D :D

What a beautiful thread! X Ray, I don't know you as well as the others but don't think I haven't been missing your posts. And to your daughter for the update--thank you!

Beautiful, heartfelt words Big Papa. Thank you so much. I will make sure Dad sees this thread.
Yes--he is still with us. He is very frail. We've had 3 ER visits in the past 2 months. The last one was Monday night. He was admitted to the hospital with dehydration--and very weak. When it was time for discharge, he was not allowed to go home and live alone. He was pretty devastated. His options were to a nursing home, 24/7 home health coming in or to live with someone. Barb has been offering for a long time to take him in - and he finally agreed. If he gets healthy enough to live at home again, we will make it work. It's only been a few days, so we are all adjusting. I updated a few Monkeys with FB message this afternoon and thought of all of you. it's been a long time since I've been on here. I was just heading to bed and figured I'd take a quick lurk-LOL. So glad I did--except you made me cry! But, your words have reminded me of so many happy memories. Sweet dreams to all you wonderful Monkeys--you are family.

Thank you for posting, I hope my posting of " his words " and all of you is appropiate...I thought about it...and thought " his " words needed to be said...He is and aways will hold a special place in this world we call " The Swamp "

Excerpt from me..from inception to completion...
Life is a journey...a never ending search for " our " meaning of life...and with in that journey if love is meant to be for us...Mr. Xcraft found it....He deserves a " noogie " for just being one lucky bastard...

I'm sure I have worn a bald spot on his head by now...

**Note...I have felt the loss of Ray for some time, but the passing of John stirred up emotion in me that I did not foresee... and indeed for all Monkeys whom have passed.**

Please hold me close, as we walk though this " most exciting...wonderful " world together. :)

Excerpt from Jo-Ann...Time takes away the edge of grief, but memories turn back every leaf.

Excerpt from Hannah...Beyond the world as we know it, there is a place

we'll never have to say goodbye.

I miss the good old monkey days when Ray, Michael (RIP  ) and the good Cap'n used to banter on and on with their frivolity. So much fun the swamp was back then.
I still remember every time a monkey went to the zoom, there was always a tribute to X in there somewhere.
Glad to hear he's still with us but I hope he doesn't have too much pain. The last 10+ years have been agony for him without Bev....

My heartfelt love to you, Ray.

Yea...I know...I have felt Ray's loss ( Mr. Xcraft ) for some time now, I really don't wont to face it...as Ray would say...I have a bad case of " Xcraft "
It's a small price to pay for what he has given us. :)

I still remember the first time I met him at Bev's wake. You could see how hard he was taking his loss, but the moment I stepped up to him and called him "X," a certain joy came to his face and he lite up when he realized who I was.
He even left the receiving line to show me around the funeral home and introduce me to their children.

He was proud to be part of the Swamp, He connected with us all...I cherish everything about him.( except his bald head )
From Bev's daughter Nancy....Mom, They say parting's such sweet sorrow,
And now I know why-
For it was time for you to go,
Yet so hard to let you go,
Yet so hard to say " good-bye "

But then there was a sweetness
When the pain left your face,
And serene and peaceful smile
Was left there in it place.

You know...We wonder what " our life " is all about...The search for our purpose, the meaning of life...our life...It's all connected you see.
Plan all you want, but " Life " has it's own plan.

I feel privileged to have met Mr. Xcraft though the Swamp, and to have met him in person...and to have received his words about his Bev, and I'm sure we all feel that same way.

They just don't make them like that any more...is an old saying that rings so true in our Ray. :D

I once responded privately to Ray/Mr. X...when he said that 'their' song was called 'Again' from a 1940's movie called 'Roadhouse'.
I told him that I could remember hearing my mother play that song on our old upright piano.
I have a lot of her 'sheet music', but I couldn't find that one...to send him a copy of it.
(I used to be able to stumble through playing it.)

"Again, this couldn't happen again. This is a once in a lifetime...this is a thrill divine".

There is a still a poor version of the song on Youtube (from the movie with Ida Lupino, Cornell Wilde and Richard Widmark)
Doris Day also made it popular...after the movie.
