Yesterday morning, I let Marriott front desk know that I was ill since Monday afternoon. I requested an extra unit cleaning of all surfaces which housekeeping promptly did. This morning a Marriott rep asked me to supply info on where, when, duration, symptoms and if I sought medical care. Where I had dined (have only dined in with groceries on Nov 1 from Ling's and lobby or Ocean Club markets since Mon) and where I visited since Nov 1 arrival. Rep said they like to keep info if someone is ill during stay.

Anyone staying at LaCabana sick??

MaryLou sent me this message this am:
"I was reading on the LaCabana Facebook page that people are dropping like flies due to the intestinal virus. People are described the same symptoms you had. ☹️"

I haven't felt this sick in years. Prayers no else get this during their vacation.

Thanks for the updated information Donna. Does sound like some intenstinal thing is circulating.
Hope today is a much better day for you!

Interesting.. I thought I overdid it at the party on Monday when I got up on Tuesday.. hangover. But it got worse and I had wandered nextdoor into La Cabana earlier. Judi's friend Terry took me back early from bar hopping. I can usually keep up! I felt okay the next day except for still having a picky stomach...wondered if it was food poisoning. I figure I didn't gain any weight on the trip so there's that.

It has been going around. I know Amy posted she got ill as well. She was staying at the AMBR like Tara. Evert got it too, but he got his at Zeerover (which is frequented by alot of people). What I noticed at La Cabana beach was the faint smell of poop and things floating in the sea near shore that I tried not to take too much notice of. I guess you could have picked it up anywhere if it is a bacteria going around. But I am very glad you are feeling a bit better.

I had read about a stomach virus too, probably on a Facebook page - will have to look for it. Glad you're feeling better.

I remember the poop smell was really, really bad two years ago. I mean................BAD.
What kind of "things" were floating in the ocean? Do I really want to know?

Small brown parts.... yukkie. I am not sure if there is a sewer nearby that drains in the sea.

My take is A#uba has been piping waste into it's waters for a long time. Ask the Dept. of Public Werkens!

I was sick when in A***a several weeks ago, staying at LaCabana. My stomach was really bad, steady diahrea and pains but it only lasted a day and a half. My mom got it the next day, took Imodium and was fine also in a day and a half. Neither of us was near as bad as Donna.

I had a stomach virus (last week of Sept.) in Aruba that kept me from dinner with my friends on one evening. Had a sleepless night but got up the next morning and was fine except tired. One of my friends got it 2 days later and another friend started feeling ill on her flight home. All lasted about 24 hours and then back to normal. Mike arrived later in the week and was only in Aruba for 5 nights. He got it about 2 or 3 days after being home. Again, 24 hours later, he was fine.

I stayed at Amsterdam Manor for 11 nights - no smell, nothing in the water. In fact, we couldn't even go in the water for a few days because the waves were so high. We didn't have any rain but had huge waves for a few days.

I just stayed at Amsterdam Manor and I noticed it smelled like a septic tank the minute I arrived. I thought it would clear off but it smelled like that each day. I also got sick--had gone over to La Cabana too. I will stay further south next time I visit.
