At a press conference on June 11 the Aruba government made the announcement everyone has been waiting for. Borders will open in stages. On June 15 the island will open for the ABC islands only, meaning Bonaire and Curaao. Starting on July 1st the borders will open for Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean (with the exception of Haiti and the Dominican Republic). On July 10th the borders will open for the United States. The borders will remain closed for South America and Central America until further notice. For any tourists entering they must upload the result of a Covid test taken three days or less prior to travel date, use a mask on the airplane, and have health insurance that will cover them in case they get the virus in Aruba. Aruba will be able to provide that insurance for people for $15.00 per day if needed. If a person does not provide a test before flying or cannot provide documentation that they are Covid free as they enter the airport they will be tested at the airport. They must go to a certain hotel where they will stay until the results of the test are obtained. So it is very important that if you are flying to Aruba you do get tested beforehand. That is definitely the best case scenario. If they are positive for the virus they will go to a Covid hotel for quarantine. If a person needs to get a Covid test upon arrival it will be $75 at their individual expense.

I am sitting here thinking of a far away place, with thoughts of returning that brings a smile to my face.
It's a small island in the Caribbean Sea, our home away from home, for you and for me.
It holds in our hearts such a special place, and just hearing it's name brings a smile to our face.
The beaches, the people, the food and the land, to us there's not another so grand.
Though miles apart, we're never away, it's in our thoughts every day.

To the Bulletin Board each day we go, to chat with friends we've come to know. It's become our life line, and it keeps us in touch, with our special island that we love so much.
The people who chat there are very special too, they're always ready to help me and you.
From advice, suggestions or even a prayer, there's not a finer group of people anywhere.
And to Richard and Suzi, we want to thank you, for this wonderful forum and all that you do.
We all need the B.B. to help keep us sane, until once again we can board our plane,
and head to our island we so long to be, our home away from home for you and me.

I admit to you all on this very day, an Arubaholic I am to stay.
So for all of you that admit to it too, this little poem was written for you.
