During my stay at the Phoenix a few weeks ago, I was told by more than one employee of their plans to build 2 more buildings, a pool and a casino on property. I am an owner and this is news to me. One building will be 9 stories, the other 8. They will remove a restaurant and the tennis courts. Was told construction may start in November. it won't be very quiet for the next few years with the St.Regis going up on one side and the additions on the other side. If anyone thought the beach at the Phoenix was crowded during high season, just wait until all the work is completed. And that monstrocity that is being built up against the bird sanctuary is going to add to the already crowded conditions.

That's why I stay on Eagle Beach. I like Palm Beach and have had good times there, but it simply was and is too crowded.

Calm down. It’s Aruba. They have been building that Embassy Suites for like five years.

I can only imagine that with the downturn in tourism due to Covid some of the construction plans might be somewhat delayed. We stayed at the Divi Phoenix 10+years ago in one of the "villas" when they were giving deals due to the construction of the new timeshares. This was back when they still had the old open lobby. The beach was pretty crowded then. In October. If you take a look at timeshare resellers there are almost always units in the old tower available for a song....
What recourse do "owners" have when a property decides to change fundamentally? Pretty much none.

And it looks like they have a long way to go before the Embassy Suites is finished. When I was there, they were constructing a tunnel under the road so the guests won't have to cross the street.

happy1, your somewhat will end up being indefinitely Sadly it is going to be years until the world let alone Aruba can come back to maybe what it was. Aruba loving people on this BB are writing that it may be 2022 until they return.

I own at the Phoenix and the last thing on my list of concerns is any new construction.

Oh, so _that's_ what that's supposed to be? I drive past it a few times a week, and had no idea. I thought it was where they were going to dump all the wastewater directly into the ocean...

It's really not that far away from completion, I think. Though we still haven't figured out where all those people are going to sit at the beach...!

Oh, I knew it was an Embassy Suites. I didn't know that was supposed to be an "underground pedestrian tunnel".

Yep, that too. Reminds me of some hotels in Ft. Lauderdale with the tunnel or over the road walkway to the beach. It's starting to look like Florida...
