Sahara dust blankets Aruba's blue sky and cuts visibility. It is the worst Sahara dust blast to the Caribbean in 50 years.

Wow! That is amazing! Does it fully block out the sun? Is it difficult to breath with all the fine particles in the air?

The Sahara dust has reached FL. Air quality is dropping...more difficulties for people with impaired breathing.

the sun is not completely blocked out, pretty much hazed over.
re: the breathing, yes, you can "feel" it when you breathe

Sensitive persons are advised to take the necessary precautions and should consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to unhealthy haziness is present.

I've a colleague that was part of the US response to the clean-up effort in PR following a hurricane a few years back. After a few weeks on the island, he suffered from respiratory distress. Upon his return, he was laid up for six months and didn't fully recover for a year. He was diagnosed as suffering from unprotected long-term exposure to the Saharan dust. It's nasty stuff...

I haven't been available to see any great sunrises or sunsets due to dust. Storms have happened around sunset. Not going to see sunrise unless we head to the beach.
We are mostly air-conditioned from April to November...probably more now that we are staying home.
Yet, inside, I could swear I smelled dust yesterday morning. The suggestion was planted.

I would love to see an Aruba sunset again.
