You say Haphazard Response? Biden said we should not have put a travel ban on China. Every scientist was saying " nothing to worry about. Even the "honest WHO" said not to worry about it. Nancy Pelosi was telling everyone to come to China Town , there is nothing to worry about. Isn't that HAPHAZARD? Should we have listened to them instead? Don't think so. You are brainwashed with your CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and another network that is towing the line. Wakeup will you!! You want more of the take over of Seattle? Well that is what you will get. Also lets raise your taxes!! Eliminate the tax cuts. Bring back the chocking regulations. Stop the tariffs on China when they have been ripping us off for years!! Especially from the previous administration, which includes your savior. By the way how was your IRA or income doing before the China Virus started? I be pretty good.
Enough. I have probably made enough enemies with this rant. I am just tired of people that do not get it.

Seriously??!!! You're shooting the messenger; the author of the article of which you are incensed with was written by a fellow American. Your beef is not with anyone on this board. Grow up or go get your lollipop back.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The United States and the World has enough strife going on as we post. Let’s all take a deep breath and be civil as we comment on others posts.
Unfortunately I/we were scheduled to be in Aruba 6/15 - 6/22. I respect the decision that the Aruban government made in closing the island. As a Timeshare owner at the Surf Club I have been completely dissatisfied with the handling of the communication by the association and Marriott Vacation Club. They kept informing me that the resort was opened. That was a complete falsehood as I know factually from individuals employed their that the facility is closed and will begin accepting guests on July 1st. Because my airline canceled its flight (Delta) I received back a full refund for all tickets purchased. Additionally I took out the Marriotts insurance contract through Travelx and have filed a claim under trip interruption as my airline could not transport me to my destination. I am hoping to get back my maintenance fee. If the claim is rejected I will file a complaint with my States insurance department as I believe it is a valid claim. I will update this when the disposition comes from the company. As I own two weeks at the Surf Club I have a reservation in November. I have no problem with the Aruban government requiring that anyone entering the Country pay for their insurance coverage. I have calculated my premium to be $175.00 for my two week stay. I plan on getting pre-tested in Connecticut and have five months to find a test center that can meet the parameters so I can upload it to the Ecard within the 72 hour timeframe.
Now we all know the rules, love them or hate them, we need to adapt to them. Please remember that no one is twisting your arm to go to the island. Most of you blow a hell of a lot more money in the casino than the cost of the insurance. One thing about insurance is that you need to buy it when you don’t need it. In all my years in the financial services industry I never had anyone say to me “Oh Mr. Grossman that to much,” after a family member passed away. Usually I heard I don’t know how I’m going to make it.
Let’s stay CIVIL and SAFE so we can all get back to the Island that we love.

Respectfully

Well, these are the same measures we take in the Netherlands. I think these are reasonable. As well as the cost of the insurance. For us, if we stay six weeks, it is only $ 315 a person. A little price to pay, in my opinion. I think the government of Aruba are doing a mighty good job.

I have read the article and I apologize. I admit I was wrong to jump like I did.

Try a peek at this:

https://www.arubavisitorsinsurance.com/

From the Aruba Tourism Auth. or the Aruba Timeshare Assn. I'm not sure which. A good source, though.

2 Million people visit Aruba a year 80% (1.6 million) from the US. Even with taking off my shoes and socks to help me calculate the money to Aruba I ran out of fingers and toes.

Other than helping the likely small number of people who will actually have to use the anemic coverage insurance what does Aruba plan to do with the millions in revenue that will be generated.

A maybe possibly cure is up to a year away and we know it will not be for everyone.

This "tax" will never go away.

Ice cold Titos at every Rum Shop  I/most of us go to Aruba because we feel safe. I will continue to feel safe when I travel there. I just need Nova Scotia to provide that 72 hour test which at this time is not available. Joey.. will you come to the airport and vouch for me if I can't provide

I think we have beat this dead horse enough, those are rules, come.... or not

It could easily turn into a loss ,we forget that if some tourist say from Canada :D comes into Aruba and gets sick and ends up in the hospital then it's covered .That same Canadian during his/hers 2 weeks vacation infects 5 workers who infect their families and their family members infect others the next thing you know the hospital is full of Aruban citizens definitely a strain on Aruba and a loss .

I had noted that I am scheduled to take a group of divers (12) to Bonaire in October. Just saw their requirements. Pretty much the same BUT you need proof of medical insurance in case you get Covid-19 or other ailments. Nothing about government mandated insurance.

Joey, you can go to Bonaire from the USA? I’m asking because KLM had to change all their flights back to Amsterdam. These flights are AUA-BON-AMS but Bonaire won’t allow flights from Aruba after 7/10 because it opens up to tourists from the USA.

And it does actually depart to Bonaire and the people can enter the island? Before we also saw flights to Aruba announced that weren’t actually flying.

Our flight isn't until October 3rd so don't know what AA is doing right now.
