Just got back to reality. We had a rental from Tropical for 25 days and it cost $746.00. Service was great as usual, but the car was beat up for having only 26,000 miles on it. We might think of renting elsewhere, but we enjoy having a car and Hans and his crew have always been very nice to us.

For 5 weeks in May/June I pay $ 998. Governement tax is $35 and sales/health tax is $62,10. This add up to $ 1045, which is $ 259 a week.

last year i paid 500 for 17 days in november. the sales tax went from 3.5 to 6%. I havent booked this year yet and was thinking of maybe not renting for the entire stay. I like the freedom of being able to come and go but wondering if its worth it. there are days that the car just sits.

We have yet to take a taxi ride in Aruba - have always rented a car for our entire stay. We use the car daily - we go out for dinner every evening, drive to the supermarkets a couple of times each week, do an excursion every so often, and drive from & to the airport. I don't know how taking taxi's for 3 weeks would compare to paying $580 (includes fees & taxes) for a 3-week rental. We also like the freedom of being able to come & go whenever we want.
