The point? Simply comparing numbers for what's out there. I hope it's alright with you guys. I didn't realize I needed guidance or permission.

If you aren't interested then don't read and don't post. If you need some sort of point to discuss then create one.

I did!

I can only speak for myself, but I like to read and listen and try to educate myself on current events. Perhaps a left over from being in the nursing and teaching professions most of my life. So I personally find the info that people are providing a real eye opener and a great comparison of what we pay in Aruba.
So I appreciate this topic;maybe others do too. Just my point of view.

Nicely said.

A well informed vacationer, etc. should be happy, incur minimal surprises, and make effective decisions. MHO!

That is what I don't get. What are you comparing? The taxes are the same for everyone. I guess what you really want to know is what people are paying for their accommodations because that number will change based on percentages. Obviously someone staying at Ritz will pay more than someone staying at Holiday Inn.

trying to figure out what the point of this thread is. should I be looking for another vacation place because these taxes make aruba unaffordable? personally, i'm more worried about all the palapa/public beach stuff going on at various ocean front resorts. now that might make me start searching for a new vacation spot.

I was thinking the same thing . LOL What is the point ? is anyone going to stop going to Aruba over what everyone pays for fees and taxes ? who really cares, if you can't afford it stay home. Next we'll be talking about casinos barring smoking . its no wonder this board has declined in informative posting and participation .

No point. No complaints. No worries about affordability. Just asking a question.

Obviously, since I didn't run it by Jimmy, Dan, and Kris I should apologize for wasting everyone's time. Silly me to think I could ask a question that meant something to me (First!) without getting their censorship approval. I thought it was ok. My bad.

I hope everyone will post something from now on that appeals to everyone else, or, at to least Jimmy, Dan and Kris because they'll call us out in here if we don't.
Good to know there are so many concerned moderators in here to keep the BB safe from idle banter, small talk, and other boring stuff..... that doesn't appeal to them (Jimmy, Dan, and Kris), of course.
After all, participation in this BB is declining because of stuff like the subject of this thread, at least according to Kris, that is.

I'll keep an eye out for what they (Jimmy, Dan, and Kris) have to say in here from now on so I'll know what's hot stuff and appropriate to post.

Canuch von keijre dies kommeir!

You asked a question and I asked a question. Nothing more, nothing less.

No. You critiqued my post as being pointless.

That was rude, ignorant, and just plain wrong!

If someone can't post a legitimate Aruba based question in this BB without being harassed by others who have no interest in that subject, plain and simple, then this public site becomes uncomfortable!

Sorry, Richard.

WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

Do I like checking out of the Phoenix and getting a energy/tax/whatever of over $250.00 in addition to maintenance. NO! But it's a cost that I factor in. It is what it is.

There are a lot of things I don't like about Aruba now. The commercialization of the island, the over building, the fact they can't seem to ever finish a project, the poor road conditions, the TRAFFIC but you know the lovely Mrs. AJ L-O-V-E-S Aruba so I'm in. I know where to go, when, what to avoid and as you all know I sit my bony white butt down in the lounge chair under a palapa 7-10 hours a day and clear my mind (not a hard thing to do) and enjoy the nothing. Some of you may want to try it.

My original post, my question was in the interest of getting info. Nothing else. What is so GD wrong with that??

I was not complaining about anything. I was not crying poor mouth. I understand the government's need to acquire money. IT WAS A QUESTION ABOUT COST ADD-ONS AT CHECK OUT!
A few folks provided some of the requested info. And that is great. Now, anyone who might have had an inkling to provide some numbers have probably been scared off by the 'monitors' as being pointless, or complaining, or leaning toward not going to Aruba anymore!
Where in my original post did I mention any of that?!

Getting along??? Seems to me you can direct that blast at the three who took it upon themselves to provide their worthiness, their interest or lack of, their ignorance to make a simple question into this totally unnecessary harangue.
I asked my question. Folks deemed it pointless. There was no need to do that!

I agree with leftyjy. He asked a question, answers welcome. Critques of questions are rude (at best) and I am very disappointed it was allowed to go on. I believe it is rudeness that sends people away. We have been through this before.

I agree with you Louis Tomlinson, we should be able to inquire or ask questions without being vilified or second guessed. It's a matter of courtesy.

lefty, if you're going to call me out at least get your facts straight. you asked a question and I asked a question. I do not believe I was rude, i simply asked why it was important to know. re-read my original post. stop taking yourself so seriously and lighten up a bit.
