Why was it smoke free ??? Just not that many customers smoking or have they instituted some kind of stupid rule about smoking which will loose our business and many others .

Don't ya luv it??? "Stupid rule"!

If ever there was something to be called "stupid" it's smoking! And forcing others to breathe contaminated air in an enclosed environment is the ultimate in "stupidity" and inconsideration!

I've read over the past several months about the island installing a rule against smoking in the casinos on Aruba but I doubted it would be effectively enforced.
Hopefully the Alhambra has done so.

Any monies lost by the casinos due to those smokers' gambling dollars will be recouped by the return of non-smokers like myself to the casinos.

Finally! :D

Interesting, I was there yesterday early afternoon and there were ashtrays at all the slot machines I used  (I do not smoke so I move them). I did hear the Bingo caller say that people sitting at tables to play Bingo may not smoke at the table.

Would love to hear that the casino is non smoking. We heard it was as of the first of the year, can anyone verify that they have gone non smoking - like asking an employee?

Don't want to cause issues here but as an ex-smoker, it has my attention.

Its amazing how a liberal socialist agenda from US visitors can try to be forced upon a casino in Aruba, (which I highly think is the case ) I m sure the Alhambra could care less about non smokers requests, its the culture from there as well as South America, and Holland and we don't play bingo lol. So we say light em up if ya have em LOL. If the few and there only the few don't like the smoke play craps in your room. Last I knew the Alhambra was in Aruba not NJ,Conn or NY. Thanks for the post Divigolf this post should get them going .

So a non smoking policy is liberal socialist? Wow, what a typical view on health policy. So healthy is liberal socialist and unhealthy is not?

Anyway, you refer to the Dutch culture and I can tell you that in the Netherlands smoking is prohibited in restaurants, pubs, casino’s, offices etc since 15 years.

Hey, I'm not forcing anyone or any country to do anything.
If they don't prohibit smoking in casinos I don't go. If they do prohibit smoking I'll go. Simple as that. However, the casino employees don't have much choice if they want to work there, do they.

I like that every year when I go for my physical my doc tells me my lungs are clear and the capacity is at max. My blood pressure and heart rates after testing are healthy. At 74 Y.O. I can swim from Costa Linda to LaCabana and back without breathing hard.

I don't want to ever use one of those tubes stuck in my throat to be able to talk.
Sounds like you don't care about such things, eh?

So, "Light 'em up" and take your chances!

I hate the smoke from cigarettes, but I do not hate the smokers. Usually.
Remember that it is an addiction. Most people I know that do smoke, do not want to smoke. They would like to quit. And have tried repeatedly. And there are those who do not want to quit; they will take their chances. They are addicted as well. I have a cousin who does not believe smoking causes cancer. She's very addicted.
Then there are manners. If something you are doing offends someone else, then perhaps you should stop. If your smoke bothers anyone, either move away or put it out.
So if nonsmokers understood why smokers smoke, and smokers did their very best not to offend with their smoke, then we wouldn't have a problem.
But we do have a problem and so rules are put in place to protect nonsmokers from the toxic effect of cigarette and cigar smoke. Because too many smokers will not change their smoking behaviour if they are offending others. Those folks are lacking in manners.
So this is not a socialist issue. Its ignorant people putting other peoples' lives at risk. More of a narcissistic issue, if you ask me.

Smoke 'em if you've got 'em, roll 'em if you don't.
