Which would you prefer to dine at; Madame Janette or Quinta del Carmen?

Absolutely Quinta del Carmen: nicer setting, less crowded and a more modern kitchen.

That all said: you are asking for personal opinions, so you will get a list of people saying either the one or the other. I guess only way to find out what is your preference is eat at both and form your own opinion.

Hello Ingrid. I have eaten at both and enjoy both equally. Was just trying to get a consensus because family will be visiting the first week that I'm there and would like to treat them to dinner. Thank you for your reply, much appreciated.

We used to go once every year to MJ. No more. We went to QdC in 2017 and were not impressed.
My answer: We will not go to either one again.

You didn't ask but:
I'm looking very forward to trying 'The Oak'. I've heard from about 8-10 friends it's very similar in quality to (the old) MJ, has a nice ambiance, and priced about the same or a bit less.

We have enjoyed both but Quinta rose to the top on our two visits last year. We had excellent food and service. The atmosphere, while not at the beach, is better at Quinta.

QDC over MJ's for me. Also, we went to Oak in November and liked it. I would go back there before going to either one of the other two.

I think Quinta del Carmen it is for a family dinner but a visit to Oak will be on the agenda for me after they have left. Perhaps next year they will return and a dinner at MJ's will be in store.Thank you to all for your input.

MJ's used to be on our "must go" list. The last couple of times we went, we were disappointed, service was lousy, portions were smaller (and not as good) and the prices went up. We stopped going a few years ago.

We have been to Quinta several times, LOVE the setting, the service is impeccable and the food is delicious.[color=#0000FF]

We haven't gone to MJ's in years - the last 2 visits were very disappointing & we crossed it off. We had gone to QDC the first year it opened & were not impressed.
We gave QDC another shot last September & we both loved it - so it's on our list for next September.

We also tried OAK last Sept. - it was OK, but not on our list for next Sept. The inside is very small & has large TV's on the walls. We sat outside, which by the parking spaces & street. Service was very slow. Better off to going to Ricardo's, which is on the beach at ABC.

I don't know why restaurants started putting up large TV's. I can understand TV's in sports bars, but not for restaurants. It's also happening in the US - very annoying.

We have been to both many times and QDC is better but we like the sister Barefoot better than both of them.

I think DutchDushi said it well regarding the different opinions you would receive. I am in the minority as one who did not care for Quinta Del Carmen at all. The service was very slow. I do like Madame Janetteā€™s but the food is not always consistent. Our service there has always been top notch though. Since you have patronized both, go with your preference.
