They used to be, 2 years ago about $350 a night, now $600 plus a night for the not so good food they serve, so sad for them. :(

Is that per person/per night for A/I? Or per night for both of you?

Typically the AIs are charging people for the unlimited DRINKS. Think boozeathon for many of their guests.

I am not sure I understand your thread title. Did they raise their prices so high that it forced them out of business? If not then they haven't yet priced themselves out of the market. Maybe they have priced themselves out of your market but not necessarily their market.

If there are that many people paying really high prices for the Divi and the Tam, then there are either more people that have more money than they know what to do with, or they are just plain dumb. Nothing wrong with the Tam or Divi; I've stayed there. But there are far better options on the island for that amount of money.

The Hyatt is over 1100 bucks a night right now , no drinks no food and you have to buy a palapa . People book and people pay . Divi looks very busy and you would be very lucky to get a room at the Hyatt .

Renting a condo is a much better deal. Ours is walking distance from Eagle Beach and rents for less than $200 per night.

Just checked for Oct/Nov 2019 on Expedia. Less airfare ($500 ea) I came up with just about $225 a person per night on a flight/hotel package for the Tam. The Riu came to about $260 or $280 depending on which property you chose. $450+ a night for two is way over what I would spend, but most hotel rooms are easily in the 175 to 250 a night range. So they figure you are getting all your food and drinks for about $125 or so a night per person. Many people easily spend that eating out 3 times a day, especially with drinks.
If they do not fill the rooms they can always discount last minute deals.......
Divi Village AI was a cheaper option.

Looking at 3/30 - 4/6 from Boston (Jet blue doesn't seem to go to AUA from there I get: From
$2,397pp for Divi and flight Ronnie.

I have never booked directly with the hotel as it is far too expensive that way.

JetBlue has loads of non-stop flights from Boston.
