Wife and I just got Global Entry for the first time.
Opinions please- does it save you time when leaving Aruba and how much time?
Any tips on how to best proceed when inside airport?
We have been to Aruba 11 times so we know the normal process but not how to bypass lines for Global Entry.

It only kicks in once you get to the luggage pick up in US Customs. Once there, go straight to the door (don't wait on the line, if there is one) and go to the kiosks alongside the wall on the right. Then you give your ticket to the agent in the booth and you are through.

It saves loads of time when the U.S. lines are long, but does nothing at the lines at the front door, and the first or second x-Ray lines.

Richard, can you not just lock but also delete this and any other topic on Global Entry.

Why? The more people who do it the longer the lines at the GE kiosk will grow. I have found that at most airports even JFK there are maybe 10 GE self-checking kiosks.

For those who don't have it IT REALLY STINKS! Don't waste your money and time.

It has saved us from 30 to 45 minutes leaving Aruba. We tend to travel at peak times and on weekends.

I see a few here don’t think it’s worth it, but if you do additional travel it’s a great time saver internationally.

I believe the original question was,"is it worth it to save time for Aruba" Its not !!!!!! we breezed thru last saturday 40 mins from Jet Blue counter to sitting at gate. When you say it saved you 30 to 40 minutes that was only at Homeland Security check thru not the rest of the airport . That being said I sure you got to get a seat at the gate quicker, but the plane didn't leave with out the passengers who didn't have Global Entry especially if they had JET BLUE upgrades and got on the plane first LOL . If you do a lot of international travel it probably is worth the fee, but not solely for Aruba. Just an opinion .

I always got the "X" at the kiosk, and had to wait on the line to be questioned by Customs.

Since I got Global Entry, no more "X"!

Hey, for $100 a year, good for 5 years what’s not to like?
$20 a year is nothing. If it was more, then I’d question it, but it’s not.

We travel 2-3 times a year to Aruba. It’s been for good for us. To each his own.

The Global Entry fee also includes TSA pre check for domestic travel....the price diff for TSA pre-check and the little extra for Global makes it a bargain IMO.

Insofar as the original question and time saved....for us I agree that on average it saves us about 30 minutes to clear US customs and not have to schlep the suitcases through the Disney-esque lines in that room.
