dined there in august. nice atmosphere, our dinners were excellent and service was outstanding. we will definitely go back next year. I have a feeling that this place is going to be popular.

Thanks... I believe it's owned by Ricardo and his wife.. They owned Matthews and Ricardos in the low rise..

Yes, Oak is Ricardo and July's new restaurant. I've heard from numerous people that it was very good food and great service, as to be expected from those two.

If you Google 'Oak Restaurant Aruba' it will show a nice map which you can click for a wider view along with menus, reviews, and three virtual views of the inside, their patio, and the outside look. It looks to be very near the roundabout between the Marriott and Ritz.
It sounds and looks to be pretty nice!

I used the word 'roundabout' for all you guys that are not New Englanders. To us, it's a 'Rotary'!

Leftjy.........I recall many years ago when I was driving around Boston, I stopped to ask for directions and was told as part of the
directions to go around the "coicle" referring to the rotary. I've never forgotten this in all the years!!

Yeah, in my neck of the woods in NH we just call it a circle (short for traffic circle). But we also don't say it with a Mass accent

We went to OAK last month - when you enter that traffic circle (rotary, roundabout, etc), you take the first right,
then go to the end of the road & make a left, then you go about 5 or 6 blocks & it's on your left.

Stefan owns Matthews. Ricardo had been the restaurant manager there before he opened Ricardo’s at ABC.

Just went to Oak last week. Food was good and we will probably go back eventually but it's not on my "must do" list. We did prefer the outdoor seating as long as you don't get the table next to the cars in the parking lot. LOL! Inside was nice but too brightly lit and loud. Again, just our opinions. Also keep an eye on your bill, they tried to overcharge us for a bottle of wine - will chalk that up to being really busy/human error - stuff happens on occasion.

I called at 6 pm for a reservation at 7 pm that same night, I was told that they were fully booked and couldn't take us until 8:30, so I passed.

Their website said to either send them an e-mail or to call them after 3 for reservations. I sent an e-mail at 9 am the next morning for reservation that night, at 4 pm I hadn't gotten a response to the email so I called them. It was a difficult conversation (noise in the background and I think I talked to 3 different people), but I was pretty sure I had a reservation for 7 pm that night. Around 6 pm I got a response to my e-mail saying that they were totally booked and couldn't take us. So then I was't totally sure if I had a reservation or not. We got there and it was fine, the place was almost empty when we got there and still wasn't totally full when we left. So I am not sure why the response to my e-mail was a no, unless they had a lot of no-shows.

In any event, we really liked it. The food and service was really good and it is very nice (but small) inside and out on the patio. Not a must do, but we would definitely go back.

Heard a rumor last week that they have had staffing issues. I have known Riccardo for years and find it hard to believe. We are in Aruba till Dec 1 and will put Oaks on our list.
