I received a message from a friend in Aruba that the government might ban smoking in all casinos? Is that true? I had hoped for one but how great would that be for us non smokers?

The operative word is "might". They've talked about it but they haven't implemented it and I don't think they will. We have stopped going to Aruba as we love to gamble but with two cases of cancer.... Our surgeons have both told us we can't be around smoke at all. And no, we didn't get the cancer from smoking but a good bet for me was the second hand smoke from the casinos. Very sad for us as we love Aruba. Just stopped in to the forums to get a little "fix" lol!

I appreciated the two 'non smoking' black jack tables at the Alhambra this past week.

A reply to a customer of Stellaris on TA from a manager stated that all casinos will ban smoking on Jan 1st. Hope so but not sure if it is the truth.

If they ban smoking then employees will not be able to get compensation for smoking related ailments .
Apparently saves the government money . It would be strange no smoking in a casino .

I think it is the non-smokers who are lobbied, somehow connected with the management of the casino.

My sympathies have always been for the employees who have to work for many hours a day, day in and day out. It isn't easy to just say find a different job either. Many non-smokers have different breathing issues that preclude them from going in to gamble due to the smoking. It would be an inconvenience for smokers, but overall it really would be the better way to go. Due to the layout of the casinos, in general, not easy to have smoking and non-smoking areas unless separate rooms were made. The Hyatt has a small room that I prefer to use when I am there but limited as there are other slots on the main floor I like to play too. Not an easy fix for sure.

Not strange in the US. For example, both Maryland and Delaware both prohibit smoking in the casinos.
