Staying at the Marriott Aruba Surf, no power for the last few hours. Elevator's working spotty. But who needs power when you're on the beach

It was caused by an off shore electrical boiler problem that affected the entire island. They had backup generators for some things but not all.

Wouldn't an off shore electrical boiler be in the water since Aruba is an island surrounded by water. No wonder the lights went out.

Just like people have home generators to power key appliances and outlets public buildings have them to power elevators, hall/emergency lights, lobby.
