There is a new procedure at check in, a bunch of new palapa son the beach, the building that housed Jimmys bar the gym and the water sports center is gone and now the gym is in the space where the old lobby was. Supposedly the gym is smaiier and not as good. The Oceanview bar is going to be rebuilt and Jimmy has gone home

From the Divi office in North Carolina: "The bar is going to be redone this is true and it will be on the ground level to be accessible to all owners and visitors."

If you are an owner they try to set up your owners meeting instead of calling you a hundred times. Did it because I had a bunch of questions about the renovations but you can avoid it by telling them not now. No big deal no line but we got in around 6

We always arrive on Sundays and go home on Fridays. That way we avoid the airport hassles on Saturdays. Also makes check-in at Divi a lot easier and faster. No big deal losing a day at each end when one has three weeks to be in the sun and sand. One thing to watch for at check-out--Divi seems to automatically add the Environmental Levy ($15.00 for our one-bedroom unit) for each week. But you are only required to pay it once, even if you stay there for multiple weeks. Make sure they remove the additional weeks' charges before you pay your final bill.

Dutch Village renovations in all phases are complete and all three pools are open for business. The former Tiki-Tiki cafe at the far end of Phase 3 has closed permanently, and Shirley has shifted operations to the new Tiki-Tiki, which located at the Phase 2 pool (and now has a swim-up bar). The Phase 2 pool is much improved from the pre-renovation days and now has a separate hot tub (which is, in fact, really hot). The Phase 3 pool has minor changes, including a new pool deck. But the hot tub, while working (new jets) is still not hot. We like to refer to it as a "solar heated hot tub."

While there were still some minor problems (to be expected when a new renovation just opens), they are being corrected. Sort of like ironing out the kinks on a maiden voyage of a new cruise ship. The Dutch Village landscaping, which has always been one of Divi's trademarks, is just as lush and beautiful as ever. And the entire resort looks just great!

We did not attend the owner's meeting this year. All they do is try to get you to convert to points and give up your fixed week (and you have to pay them a substantial amount of money to do that) and that is a non-starter for us. It's just a waste of 90 minutes that I could better use on the beach.

Cheers!
