ORANJESTAD-Construction of the Aruban government headquarters behind the Parliament building
is set to start on September 1st 2011. The new government headquarters is estimated at a cost of
10 million U.S. dollars. The project is incorporated in the Historical Center master plan for
Oranjestad, and is part of the government's national plan "Bo Aruba" (Your Aruba).

The modern design of the headquarters is chosen to reflect the present modern times
embracing the existing old Parliament building, and looking ahead to the future. The government
headquarters will house the offices of the Ministers and that of the Prime Minister. The interior of
the new building will illustrate the historical course of the island. The headquarters will be
environment friendly using alternative energy as source of power.

The road behind the existing Parliament building will be closed permanently to create a square
which will include trees, benches, and will serve as center for cultural activities and events. The
square will carry the name Padu del Caribe, honoring the father of Aruba's culture.

The new government headquarters will be constructed on the existing parking lot behind the
Parliament building. The adjacent historical Fort Zoutman, the registry office, the Governor’s office
and the former national museum in the direct vicinity of the Parliament building are incorporated in
the Historic Center master plan.

Prime Minister, Mike Eman is pleased to announce another big project for the island which will
contribute in providing more construction jobs, and boost the island economy further.
